Relieving Chiropractic Care Relief of New York City Leg Pain Right or Left

June 02, 2020

Right leg. Left leg. Leg pain (aka sciatica) will affect either leg (and sometimes both). New York City chiropractic care at Rosenberg Wellness Center helps ease leg pain and focuses on the spinal source of the sciatica at the same time. Rosenberg Wellness Center leads New York City leg pain and back pain patients to pain relief with chiropractic care.

SCIATIC LEG PAIN: Right Leg or Left Leg

You have heard of right-handed people and left-handed people, right? Yes! Did you know that the right leg grows longer in left-handed people and the left leg grows longer in right-handed people? Not all the time, but research has it documented in pretty high percentages. With this in mind, it’s not surprising that more people have longer left legs (53%) than right legs (39%). Incredibly, only 8% of people have equal leg lengths. (1) What role does that play in which leg will have sciatica? Discs will bulge into the concavity of the curve owing to a range of issues like uneven stresses on the disc’s anulus. The concavity of the spinal curve is on the long leg side. A right-handed person with a long left leg will likely experience left leg pain. Another interesting point: hip pain often arises on the long leg side, too: 88.9% long leg versus 11.1% short leg. Sciatica, too: 78.5% arises on the long leg side and 21.5% on the short leg side. (2,3) Your New York City chiropractor can measure a short leg pretty easily by checking three things: iliac crest, the verticality of the spine, and levelness of the posterosuperior iliac spine dimples. Researchers stated that there is a solid relationship between visual and xray measurements. (4) Trust your New York City chiropractor to see a short leg…and take care of any related disc herniation causes of pain!

DISC HERNIATION RE-ABSORPTION WITH NON-SURGICAL CARE

A new study studied 75 cases of ruptured lumbar disc herniation. 46 of the 75 cases had leg pain radiculopathy: 46 cases on the left and 29 on the right. (Makes sense now, right?) At 5 years post- non-surgical treatment, a “reabsorption” phenomenon was seen. The excellent and good rate of disc reabsorption was 73.24%. (5) Rosenberg Wellness Center provides relieving non-surgical care of New York City leg pain and back pain.

RELIEF FOR New York City LEG PAIN and BACK PAIN

And then recall the recent paper regarding the benefits of chiropractic maintenance care: Maintenance care decreases the number of painful days for acute back pain episodes and increases the length of pain-free periods between back pain episodes in patients with recurrent and persistent back pain. (6) Rosenberg Wellness Center is here for those back pain and leg pain patients wanting fewer days with back and leg pain and those who want to live life with fewer periods of leg and back pain.
